A co-host’s journey to greater happiness and wealth in Cornwall
When Jules came to HolidayHost in 2023, she knew the realities of servicing a busy holiday home portfolio: always being available, endless juggling cleaning schedules, constant attendance to guest or owner priorities, also the feeling of not getting the rewards that hard work deserves. For Jules in 2023, all that was about to change, with HolidayHost.
Taking on the HolidayHost license for the Rock area in Cornwall, Jules saw the opportunity: she saw that she could build her business to be more sustainable, more flexible for her career and her life, also to provide rewards that would help to build happiness and wealth.
Fast forward two and half years to autumn 2025… Jules hosts 30 holiday homes. By leaning into her role as a HolidayHost Host, she has transformed her business and her role within it: where she spends her energy – focusing less on cleaning and physical upkeep, and spending her time more on delivering exceptional owner and guest experiences. The business brings her more reward without additional staff – details below.
“I love being part of HolidayHost – I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to do this on my own. The support and guidance I receive from the team at HQ is second to none, and I love the freedom being a local Host brings.”
From cleaning to co-hosting
Many holiday home business owners assume they have only one option: grow their business until it pays them an acceptable income then, in the future, search for someone who would be interested to buy the business (or instead close it). Jules’ story shows how with HolidayHost, there’s another way.
For Jules, years of cleaning revealed the downsides of her business: she found herself tied up with the physical side of the job like cleaning and laundry deliveries, or the people end of the job – cleaner recruitment and management. While necessary, these tasks left her little space for the aspects of her business that she loved most: working with owners, ensuring guests had memorable stays, and building her business profitably.
HolidayHost’s innovative co-hosting model gave Jules the freedom to take a new way. Jules could add a ‘string to her business’s bow’ which would provide it an additional, profitable income stream, simply. Then, instead of doing it all herself, Jules could build a trusted local cleaner supplier network to handle changeovers and property care, allowing her to give more time to work on the higher-value Hosting service. Meanwhile, her profitable business grew in value so Jules could happily, reasonably consider the prospect of a more lucrative sale.
Other Hosts like to build their conventional business as well as their hosted portfolio of properties but for Jules, her host license became an opportunity to reduce her hands on workload while also building her personal income, wealth and happiness. Now Jules has the freedom to focus on the bigger picture.
Growing a holiday home portfolio in Rock and beyond
Since taking on the Rock area license, Jules has steadily grown her portfolio to 30 properties and is on course to achieve the goal: HolidayHost’s standard number of properties in any area – 50, by year four of her license. As Jules explains:
“I love being part of HolidayHost – I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to do this on my own. The support and guidance I receive from the team at HQ is second to none, and I love the freedom being a local Host brings.”
The owners’ appetite for the Host for Rock, like any HolidayHost area Host, exists in having someone who is both local to their property in their community and also part of the wider HolidayHost offering. Jules combines her local presence and care with the professional tools and expertise of the central Devon-based team, delivering the owners, their guests and her community, the best of both worlds.
Balancing Hosting with community
Jules balances her hosting and property services business with her wider role in the area’s community, which is familiar to some other Hosts work/life balance in our coastal locations. Alongside running her portfolio, Jules has taken part in voluntary work including committee of Wadebridge Carnival and in 2025 is now Deputy Mayor of Wadebridge.
By outsourcing some of the property services for the properties she hosts to her network of trusted local businesses, Jules empowers the wider local economy while achieving a reliable ‘turnkey’ service for her owners. It’s a win-win for all stakeholders.
Jules’ work-life balance is made possible by the enrichment, flexibility and empowerment provided to her by the HolidayHost model. Rather than being tied to rigid agency systems, Jules can design her business in a way that works for her and for her area.
The rewards of becoming a Host
One of the most striking results of Jules’ decision to take on the Rock license has been financial. In her third year – 2025, her HolidayHost license provides her an additional income stream of more than £32,500, by its nature rocketing her business gross profit and net profit. The figure is expected to double by year five.
But beyond income, becoming a Host has given Jules more control over how she works. She chooses the owners and properties she partners with. She decides how to structure her time. And she gets to spend her days doing what she loves: making owners happy, creating unforgettable guest stays, and supporting the community she cares about.
For anyone considering becoming a Host, Jules’ journey is only one example of the potential.

Looking ahead in Rock, Padstow and Wadebridge
Jules is well-positioned to keep building her co-hosting portfolio. With nearly 30 homes already under her care and strong relationships with local suppliers, she has laid the foundations for sustainable growth.
For holiday home owners, partnering with Jules means gaining a dedicated co-host who understands both the holiday rental market and the value of community. For Jules, becoming a Host with HolidayHost has opened the door to a more rewarding, flexible, and profitable way of working.
Her story is a reminder that hosting doesn’t have to mean doing it all alone, or giving up control to a traditional agency. With the right support, co-hosting can offer the best of both worlds for everyone involved.
