Why local matters
Some things are better looked after close to home
A holiday home is personal. It deserves more than someone managing it from a distance. Having a local Host means there’s someone nearby who gets to know your home, already understands the area and builds a relationship with you over time.
That local presence matters in all sorts of ways, from noticing when something isn’t quite right to knowing who to call when something needs doing, or sharing the places and experiences that help guests make the most of their stay.
It’s why local Hosts are such an important part of HolidayHost: they bring the care, knowledge and personal connection that technology or a remote team simply can’t replicate.
The local difference
Why having someone nearby matters
One person who knows you and your home
Your local Host gets to know you, your home and the details that only come from spending time there, the boiler that needs a nudge, the gate that sticks in the wet, or the details you particularly care about. When you have a question or want to talk something through, you know who to call.
- A named local Host you can call or email
- Someone who gets to know your home over time
- A relationship built around what matters to you
Knowledge you only get from being there
Your local Host knows the area first hand, when it gets busy, which events bring people in and the little things you only know from living there.
That knowledge is useful in all sorts of ways. It might mean knowing which dates are likely to be in demand, which beach works best for a family with a toddler, or which pub still serves food on a Monday in February. It helps us make better decisions about your home and gives guests recommendations they can genuinely rely on.
- First-hand knowledge of your area
- Insight into local demand and events
- Recommendations guests can genuinely rely on
Someone nearby, keeping an eye on your home
Between guest stays, your local Host sees your home in person and can pick up on the things that are difficult to spot from a distance, from a slow-draining shower to a chipped worktop.
If something needs attention, they’re there to help get it sorted, working with you and the right local suppliers where needed. It means there’s someone nearby who knows your home and can notice when something doesn’t look or feel quite right.
- Your home seen in person between stays
- Someone who knows what to look out for
- Local help when something needs attention
A network built on local relationships
When something needs doing at your holiday home, finding the right person shouldn’t become another job for you. Your local Host can draw on cleaners, changeover teams and tradespeople they know in the area, helping get the right support in place when it’s needed.
Working locally has a wider benefit too. Wherever we can, using independent businesses helps support the community around your holiday home, helping keep these places thriving for the people who live there and the guests who love visiting them.
- Cleaners, changeover teams and local tradespeople
- Your local Host coordinates what’s needed
- Supporting independent businesses in the area
A real person when you need one
Your local Host is there for you and your guests. Guests might ask how the heating works, whether the pub takes dogs, where to park or which beach is best that day, and your Host can answer because they know both your home and the area. It’s personal support from someone who can give a useful answer, not simply pass on a message.
If something needs attention during a stay, your local Host is nearby and can help get it sorted. When you want to talk something through yourself, you can call or email them directly.

Owners and guests
The difference people actually feel
"5 star reviews"
“Sharon has been our Host for over 6 months now and she has been amazing. This is our first holiday rental and being some distance away we were anxious about dealing with potential emergencies, but Sharon has always been on hand with a solution and communicated excellently. Our guests love her and we have only had 5 star reviews thus far, so it’s absolutely a 5 star review from us!”
"Couldn’t be happier"
“HolidayHost have been a fantastic team to work with from day one. They manage my holiday home in Dartmouth with real care and attention, and I’ve been genuinely impressed by how proactive they are. Annie keeps a close eye on the listing, responds quickly to guests, and constantly looks for ways to keep things running smoothly. The level of bookings we get is brilliant, and it’s clear that’s down to the way the property is managed. Couldn’t be happier.”
"Everything was better than ever"
“We opted again for SeaQuest in Hope Cove, Devon because we had stayed there before when handled by another holiday host. Delighted to have found Annie handling everything to do with this listing now and in our opinion everything was better than ever, she just goes that little bit further. We especially appreciated fresh milk in the fridge and a hamper containing all we would need to enjoy a Devonshire cream tea. Also the box of domestic necessities was everything we needed during our stay. Perfect.”

A few things Owners often ask
More about your local Host
A local Host is a real person who lives near your holiday home and looks after it in person on your behalf. One named person, who knows you and knows the property.
Day to day, that means checking the home between stays, arranging the changeovers, working with the cleaners and trades, and being the person your guests contact.
Your home has one named local Host who gets to know you and your property over time. They’re your main point of contact and also look after your guests, answering their questions and supporting them throughout their stay.
If you have more than one holiday home with HolidayHost, your local Host may differ depending on where each property is located, so every home benefits from someone who genuinely knows its local area.
Your local Host will be at your home regularly when it’s being let, including around changeovers and between guest stays. How often they visit will naturally depend on your bookings, and they’ll also be there when something needs checking or attention. Your local Host can talk you through what this is likely to look like for your home.
The Host locations pages list the areas with a local Host in them. If your property isn’t in one of those areas, contact us and tell us where it is. We’ll tell you honestly whether we can look after it.
