HolidayHost in the community: Wadebridge and beyond
At HolidayHost, we talk a lot about being “co-hosts of holiday homes in the heart of our communities”. It’s more than just a strapline for us. It’s a reflection of how we believe holiday letting should work, locally rooted, community-minded and proud to give back to the places we live and work in.
From charity events and local sponsorships to volunteering and town projects, our hosts are part of everyday community life. One of the best examples of that in recent years has been the Wadebridge Carnival.
Wadebridge Carnival: celebrating community spirit
If you’ve ever spent time in Wadebridge, you’ll know the Carnival is a highlight of the summer calendar. For locals, it’s a chance to come together, celebrate creativity and raise funds for community causes. For visitors, it’s one of those events that makes a Cornish holiday feel truly special, full of colour, character and local pride.
HolidayHost was proud to play a part by sponsoring the Carnival team, with our logo proudly displayed on volunteers’ T-shirts. Our local host, Jules Metcalfe, was also a committee member, giving her time and energy to help make the event happen.

“The Carnival captures everything that’s wonderful about Wadebridge. It’s about community, connection and people showing up for each other. That’s exactly what HolidayHost is all about.”
Although Jules has since stepped down from the Carnival committee, her contribution to the event — and to the town as a whole — continues to shape how HolidayHost shows up locally.
Local leadership that makes a difference
Jules is still at the heart of the Wadebridge community, but these days you’re more likely to find her in a council meeting or working on town initiatives than organising floats. As Deputy Mayor, Town Councillor and part of the Town Team, she’s deeply involved in keeping Wadebridge vibrant and welcoming for residents and visitors alike.
For Jules, community involvement has never been separate from her work as a HolidayHost co-host. It’s all connected, the relationships, the pride in place, the sense of belonging.
“Being part of Wadebridge isn’t just about managing properties. It’s about helping the town thrive, supporting local people and making sure visitors experience the best of where we live.”

This connection to local life gives owners real confidence that their homes are being looked after by someone who understands the area inside out. It’s what sets HolidayHost apart from distant, centralised agencies.
Why community involvement matters to HolidayHost
We believe that co-hosting only works when it benefits everyone, homeowners, guests and the wider community. When local people are actively involved, more income stays in the region, small businesses benefit and visitors enjoy more authentic stays.
That’s why HolidayHost encourages every local co-host to engage with their community in ways that matter to them, whether that’s through volunteering, sponsorship or simply being a positive presence. From fundraising events to local clean-ups, we’re proud to see our hosts making a difference in their own backyards.
When our hosts invest time in their communities, everyone wins – the towns, the guests and the homeowners who trust us to represent them locally.
Looking ahead: more stories from our communities
The Wadebridge Carnival may be one chapter, but it’s part of a much bigger story. Across Cornwall and beyond, our hosts are out there supporting local causes, joining community groups and helping their towns thrive.
These are the stories that make HolidayHost different – the everyday, real-world examples of what it means to be a co-host at the heart of your community.
