Where Dan started
Dan owns two holiday homes just steps from the beach in Harlyn Bay: 1 Harlyn Digs, a one-bedroom retreat, and 3 Harlyn Digs, a three-bedroom apartment. They are places he enjoys spending time himself, as well as welcoming guests.
When starting out, he tried marketing the properties and managing changeovers himself. It quickly became clear that running the letting required a different set of skills, and he decided to find experienced support before taking the venture further.
It was a skillset we didn’t have and ultimately the wrong way to go.

Choosing HolidayHost
HolidayHost’s portfolio helped give him confidence. The properties appeared to be of a similar calibre to his own, suggesting a good fit. Meeting Jules face to face made the decision clearer.
Ultimately meeting Jules face to face was important as her knowledge and experience was immediately apparent.
Dan, Harlyn Digs
Jules helped bring both properties on board, organising compliance assessments, including fire risk assessments. Dan found the onboarding through the Owner App easy and thorough, giving him a straightforward way to get everything in place.

Working with Jules
Once bookings started coming through, he saw how much guest communication was involved through the booking platforms. Jules responded promptly and patiently, drawing on her experience to handle questions and requests.
Jules is quick to answer and patient and seems to answer at all hours!

When an issue needed Dan’s input, she contacted him separately to discuss it. He also valued her confidence in setting boundaries when guest requests were unreasonable, an experienced approach that balanced guest care with his interests as an Owner.

Where Dan is now
Working with Jules has given Dan confidence that the hosting is in experienced hands, from everyday guest messages to the situations that need a firmer response.
During the peak summer months, bookings reached 92.1%, a strong start for Dan’s two holiday homes with HolidayHost.
For Dan, the decision to seek support early helped put the venture on a stronger footing, while keeping both properties available for his own stays too.
